In “Agents of SHIELD.” wanted to show the villain MODOK, but in the end Marvel banned him from using | news

On August 12, the final season of the superhero series Agents of SHIELD ended, and on this occasion the creators of the show Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen gave great interview, in which they talked about the difficulties in production. The main problem was that Marvel prevented the writers and producers of the series from using the images, characters and events of the MCU. For example, Hydra could not have been announced before Captain America: Winter Soldier was released.

[В 2013-м] we kicked off the Marvel series with five new characters that weren’t in the comics. And people immediately reacted, “Ugh, we don’t like these heroes.” And all Marvel has told us is that we can’t even show Loki’s staff. Viewers expected many familiar elements and brand names to appear in this superhero series. And we were not allowed to do this. And we had a big secret, we couldn’t even say a word with the letter “G”. We couldn’t say Hydra. We could not spoil the events of The Other War, otherwise we would have ruined everything.

And although in the first season the creators of the show still held on to familiar characters and events (for example, Fury and Lady Sif appeared in the series), but the further, the more the project developed its own ideas, for example, stories with a new Ghost Rider, virtual reality, travel to other planets and in time. The famous villain MODOK could also appear in “Agents”, but Marvel also forbade him to use it.

We had a lot of ideas – and I’ll say I don’t care anymore – we were even allowed to use certain characters. We started developing a story about these characters – for example, MODOK – and they revoked their permission. So there could be some crazy things on the show that were above our budget. Toys we could play with

MODOK (Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing, Mobile Organism For Organizing Disasters) is an unusual villain from comics, the victim of an experiment, as a result of which an ordinary person named George Tarleton became a superbrain.

Interesting that earlier in the network slipped information about MODOK in the series “New Warriors”. Alas, the show was canceled.

It is possible that the villain wants to show Marvel Studios in their series or films.
