Tragedy in the Austrian Alps. Twenty-five-year-old Czech died

The Czech tourist went on a hike on Wednesday morning to the Drachenwand mountain, which rises above Lake Mondsee, about 20 kilometers east of Salzburg. According to Austrian police, it was part of a group of 18 tourists.

After climbing the top of the Drachenwand mountain, the group set out on the return journey along the secured Hirschsteig route. But the twenty-five-year-old woman slipped and fell from a height of about 50 meters into the Saugraben gorge.

The mountain rescuers were also with the helicopter near the scene of the accident due to another intervention, and according to the police, they arrived at the Czech tourist very quickly. Despite their efforts, however, she was no longer saved. The intervening doctor stated death. The helicopter then transported the body to the valley. The group with which the woman went to the mountains was taken care of by the crisis intervention team.

Wednesday’s accident happened in the same area where a six-year-old boy from the Czech Republic died during a mountain hike in February this year. The Austrian public prosecutor’s office accused his mother of negligent death in July. If convicted, the woman faces up to three years in prison.
