The man who was seriously injured on Saturday by a fireworks explosion in a house in Born, in Limburg, is no longer in danger. Research by the police has since shown that it is illegal fireworks.
The accident occurred around 6.30 pm in a house on the Heirweg. The victim was taken to the hospital with an ambulance. Two men and a woman who were also in the home were arrested on suspicion of possible involvement in the accident.
Because it was not immediately clear whether there was more fireworks in the house, explosive scouts searched the building. They then found a large amount of illegal fireworks, according to a police spokesperson. This includes so-called Cobras, heavy illegal bangers.
Exactly how many fireworks are involved is not yet known. It is also not clear whether the fireworks were intended for personal use or for resale.
The police emphasize that storing large amounts of fireworks in a home is extremely dangerous. The fireworks in the Limburg home are removed by specialists. Due to the ongoing investigation, the house will remain closed until Sunday.
