Ihattaren does not rule out a sensitive step: ‘Ajax also a great club’

In 2019 Ihattaren already said: “I want to collect the largest transfer fee ever for PSV. That is my dream.”

Van der Meijde, former player of the team from Amsterdam and still a fan of the capitals, picks up on that. He would like to see Ihattaren at work in the ArenA.

Van der Meijde: “Ajax also has a lot of money. Would you dare to take that step? If Ajax came now?” He asks the attacker.

‘Do not accept’

Ihattaren: “You never know how things will go. I also think Ajax is a great club. But the fans (of PSV, ed.) Will not accept it.” Van der Meijde asks whether the attacker could still be satisfied with a sensitive switch, if the people from Eindhoven would collect a nice amount for it.

“I definitely want to do something in return for the club”, Ihattaren responds. “I like PSV. It’s my club, you know?”

Van der Meijde: “So you could be at peace with it if Ajax pays 30 million? I’ll just name a few.”

Ihattaren: “As long as it is a record.”

Lozano

Currently, the record for outgoing transfers held by PSV is held by Hirving Lozano. The Mexican attacker left Eindhoven to Napoli in 2019 for almost 40 million euros.

The chance that Ajax will put a higher amount on the table for Ihattaren is currently nil. After all, the attacker is not always undisputed at PSV and the corona virus has virtually paralyzed the transfer market anyway.

The domestic transfer record is immediately shattered in the event of a transfer from Ihattaren to Ajax. Now it is still in the name of Miralem Sulejmani, who moved from sc Heerenveen to Amsterdam for 16.5 million euros in 2008.

Overmars

Ajax’s director of football affairs, Marc Overmars, was asked earlier this season whether Ihattaren was ‘a serious option’ for Ajax. Overmars reacted cryptically and evasively. “Actually not at the moment, no. It is a type of player who could suit Ajax”, he said at Ajax TV.

Andy not in Vermeijde

In the new episode of ‘Andy Niet te Vermeijde’, Mohamed Ihattaren talks candidly about the death of his father, his choice for Orange and his predisposition to gain weight quickly. The episode can be seen tomorrow on Videoland.

Every Monday a new episode of ‘Andy niet te Vermeijde’ appears on Videoland. In this program Andy visits ten acquaintances from the football world.
