Arne Slot’s team played a disappointing draw in the second preliminary round of the Conference League. Afterwards, it is mainly about Naoufal Bannis, who was preferred by the trainer over Róbert Bozeník.
“I think he is not the dream striker of Feyenoord,” says editor Casper Sikkema in the podcast. The 19-year-old Bannis still needs time to develop. “You can put such a boy there and hope that he will do very well, but I think that is not realistic. But I do not think it is a good idea if he becomes the first striker of Feyenoord. I think so a traumatic experience.”
Is Bannis’ choice understandable? “I noticed at the training camp in Austria that Bozenik is not yet filling in the striker position in Slot’s system in the desired way,” says Feyenoord watcher Dennis van Eersel. Midfield has to support and collapse. He just hasn’t shown it yet.”
Vam Eersel believes that Feyenoord should enter the transfer market. “It is very hard to write Bannis off right now, because it was not just him. As a striker you also have to deal with supply from the wings, that was just not good on Thursday. But a new striker, you cannot with only Bozenik and Bannis in this season, it should really be a bit higher on the priority list in terms of priority.”
