Hundreds of unauthorized corona protests in Erfurt

Several hundred people protested against the state corona measures in Thuringian cities on Monday. According to a police spokesman in Erfurt, around 650 people took part in an unregistered “Corona walk”. Many had candles with them. They didn’t wear mouth and nose protection. According to the police, the protest was “peaceful and largely undisturbed”.

Call via social networks

Throughout Thuringia, a protest against the corona policy of the state and federal government was called in the social networks. In the posts “equality and equality” are called for, the 2G regulation is called exclusion. According to the current regulation, only those vaccinated against the coronavirus or convalescent from Covid-19 may shop in retail and catered for in restaurants.

Outside the state capital, the number of participants remained mostly in the double-digit range, said the police spokesman. The Thuringian Corona Emergency Ordinance currently only allows stationary rallies with a maximum of 35 participants.

Irritable mood at the weekend in Eisenach

Hundreds of people went for a walk in Thuringia unannounced and together at the weekend. In Eisenach, a gathering of several hundred people had clashes with the police who used irritant gas. Two police officers were injured, according to the police.

The domestic political spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Raymond Walk, announced that they wanted to make the events of the weekend the topic of the interior committee. It is a “new quality of the demonstration and a challenge for society as well as for the state, organized by right-wing extremists”.
