Huawei sells foldable Mate X in the Netherlands from March NOW

Huawei is going to sell its foldable smartphone, the Mate X, in the Netherlands from March onwards, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer confirms on Friday to NU.nl after reporting by tech website Bright. The exact date from which the Android phone will be sold and how expensive the device will be, the company could not say.

The Mate X is expected to be the second smartphone with a folding screen on the market in the Netherlands. The Galaxy Fold Samsung is for sale in the Netherlands from January. Users of both phones have a larger screen when the device is unfolded.

The Galaxy Fold has a small screen on the front, while a second, larger screen is on the inside. This screen appears when the user opens the device like a book.

The Mate X works differently: the smartphone has one screen, which is located on both the front and back of the device. By unfolding the smartphone, the user has access to the full screen, which measures 8 inches in diameter.

Huawei previously announced that the Mate X in Europe will cost 2,299 euros. The company could not confirm whether that price was fixed on Friday. The Galaxy Fold costs 2,020 euros.
