It’s official, the press has already been invited. Free is organizing a major conference this week at the headquarters of its parent company Iliad. The event will take place this Tuesday July 7 and can be followed live.

When and how to follow the Free conference

Free has scheduled the start of its “#KeynoteFree” for this Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 10 a.m. It will be possible to follow all the announcements live on Frandroid, but also at Free on the FAI live page, or on YouTube directly with the following stream.

What to expect from the event?

All sources agree that Free should unveil a new box at its conference, the famous Freebox V8 Pop that the operator promised several months ago and which has been the subject of rumors since. It would be a mid-range box, replacing the Freebox Mini 4K in the catalog of the access provider.

Unless surprised, this box should once again run Android TV and not with an operating system developed in-house. Supply flow could go up up to 2.5 Gbit / s, a little more than 2 Gbit / s recently announced by Bouygues Telecom.

Today, Free offers no less than 6 different Freebox offers, not counting the operator’s 4G + Box. In addition to the recent Freebox One, Freebox Delta S and Freebox Delta, the operator still offers the Freebox Revolution, the Freebox mini 4K and the Freebox Crystal.

The presentation of the Freebox POP will perhaps be, in any case we hope, the opportunity to clean up this catalog which has become as confused as that of the competitors, formerly targeted by the former “troublemaker”. Having a clearer offer and more aggressive prices was the DNA of Free until recently.

Unless surprised, the Freebox POP will be the main event of this conference, but the operator could make other announcements. During the presentation of the Freebox Delta, Free had notably announced its partnership with Netflix to integrate the SVOD service into its new fixed plans. We can especially imagine announcements around the integration of 5G in Free’s strategy, or new partnerships with services.
