How Freiburg associations and initiatives advocate equal participation – Freiburg

The Modern Art Association, Rosa Hilfe and the Social Service of Muslim Women received the Freiburg Integration Prize. A special award goes to the sports club PTSV Jahn.

This year, the “Freiburg Integration Prize – for an Open City” goes to the Modern Art Association, Rosa Hilfe and the Social Service of Muslim Women. For the first time, a special prize for exemplary initiatives in sport will be awarded to the PTSV Jahn. The integration prize is awarded to Freiburg residents who campaign for integration and equal participation of people with an immigrant background on site. It is being awarded for the tenth time this year.

The integration prize, endowed with a total of 5,000 euros, is awarded by a jury made up of representatives of the municipal council and the migrant advisory council, the chairman of the jury is the First Mayor Ulrich von Kirchbach. The jury also decided on the one-time special award. Individuals, associations, organizations, initiatives and school projects who are exemplary in promoting coexistence in Freiburg and helping to achieve the city’s main integration policy goals can be honored. This year we received 18 applications.

First prize: The Modern Art Association

The first prize, endowed with 2000 euros, went to the Moderne Kunstverein. The jury’s reasoning stated that “the association and its members bring art to people and people to art. And they have been doing this successfully for ten years and with great commitment. Working with refugees, artistic and creative discussion of questions that have to do with arriving in Germany and living in a new environment, open up new avenues for discussion, dialogue and understanding on an equal footing, in which all those involved are learners “.

The second prize was awarded twice

Rosa Aid Freiburg receives a second prize endowed with 1,500 euros. “Rosa Hilfe supports queer refugees reliably and actively in all life issues and situations,” said the jury. And further: “Rosa Hilfe is an anchor that offers advice and space to be able to feel safe, accepted and accepted in Freiburg. An offer that represents diversity and our open urban society in an exemplary manner.”

Another second prize goes to the social service of Muslim women, which, according to the jury, seems to convey what many refugee women do not know. In this way it promotes autonomy, mobility and competence and strengthens self-confidence.

Special price for the area of ​​sport

The special “Sport” award goes to PTSV Jahn. There, the jury argues, around 40 children and young people with a refugee background play football in 20 youth teams; they have naturally been involved and integrated into the club for years.

The integration prize is supported by the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau, which taxes 1000 euros. The sports department of the city of Freiburg is bringing in the 500 euros in prize money for the one-time special sports prize.
