Hospital Neustrelitz: Department closed after the corona outbreak | NDR.de – news

As of: 01/20/2021 3:40 p.m.

After a corona outbreak, a department in the Neustrelitz hospital was closed. The virus was detected in eleven patients and five employees.

According to the hospital, the internal affairs department is particularly affected. No new patients would be admitted there until further notice, according to the medical director, Fred Ruhnau. The virus was believed to have been carried to the clinic by two patients who were hospitalized for other illnesses.

Tests on patients and employees

Upon admission to the facility, all newcomers are tested. Attempts are being made to initially accommodate them in single rooms, Ruhnau continues. But that is not always possible. Since the two positive cases, all of the hospital’s patients and employees have been tested multiple times. The hospital in Neustrelitz has also increased the number of Covid-19 beds.
