A Romanian businessman was blown up in his car on Saturday morning in the western city of Arad. Business circles and a large part of the population, especially in the western part of the country, are shocked by the professional murder, Romania Libera writes.
It’s obvious that the murder has been planned for a long time and was committed by several people, the newspaper said.
The bomb exploded in the businessman’s Mercedes Benz car John Christian the moment he stopped at parking at a local supermarket.
Sources close to the investigation made it clear that it was improvised explosive device, but the effectiveness and manner of placing the bomb suggest that the killers are professionals.
The bomb has been triggered from a distance. According to some sources, the businessman has had problems recently – his car was set on fire and his money was stolen from a safe.
It’s John Crishan owner of one of the few African catfish farms in Eastern Europe. The farm is located on the perimeter of a former hemp factory, a few kilometers from Arad, Agence France-Presse reported.
The farm has 22 pools with thermal water coming from drilling at a depth of 900 meters. There are tens of tons of fish in some of the pools, the agency notes.
The murder investigation was taken over by the prosecution to the Supreme Court of Cassation due to the complexity of the case and its serious consequences.
Interior Minister Lucian Bode said the murder in Arad was isolated case, informs Agerpress.
The Minister stressed that Romania is a safe country and assured that the perpetrators of the crime will be found and brought to justice.
The minister said investigators were checking all possible versions of the businessman’s conflict – personal and professional.
“I was informed about this tragedy on Saturday morning, as soon as it happened, and together with the leadership of the Ministry of Interior we decided to send the best specialists from the Romanian police to Arad.
We contacted partner institutions, I mean the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Defense, the General Prosecutor’s Office, which took over the case (…), “said Interior Minister Lucian Bode.
