Hit-and-Run Case Involving TNI Member: Victim’s Family Hopes for Professional Investigation

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Rendra Simbolon (45), the eldest child of husband and wife couple Sonder Simbolon (72) and Tiurmaida (65) a hit-and-run victim, hopes that the TNI will be professional in conducting investigations.

For information, the drivers who hit Sonder and Tiurmaida are suspected of being members of the TNI.

“I hope that Denpom will be in charge, because investigating this case involves members of the TNI, I hope Denpom will remain professional in carrying out their duties,” Rendra said when contacted by Kompas.com, Sunday (7/5/2023).

Even though this accident involved members of the TNI, said Rendra, he hopes that Denpom will remain neutral on this matter and can investigate it as well as possible.

“So that it can be immediately delegated to court as it should be,” he said.

Rendra said he was satisfied with the response from Denpom because he communicated this matter well.

“Also, the intention to settle legally is evident,” said Rendra.

“We are waiting for the investigation process to be like what it will be like later. We as a family want this problem to be resolved through legal procedures and for the alleged perpetrator to be tried as fairly as possible for the victim’s family,” he added.

To note, Sonder Simbolon and his wife, namely Tiurmaida, died after becoming victims of a hit-and-run on Jalan Raya Kampung Sawah, Jati Murni, Pondok Melati, Thursday (4/5/2023) morning at 07.45 WIB.

Head of Satlantas Satlantas Polres Metro Bekasi Kota Iptu Dwi Budi said they were killed when they were hit by a motorcycle.

“The victim was hit while riding his motorcycle with plate number B 5473 TJB,” said Dwi Budi.

Dwi said the two victims died with serious injuries. Sonder even died with his legs cut off.
