A mother spent five months in a hospital in Hull, England, after her tooth abscess resulted in a brain infection.

As reported by Hull Live, Rebecca Dalton visited the dentist last December after discovering an abscess under one of her wisdom teeth. The dentist then gave her antibiotics and planned an operation to remove the affected tooth after her delivery.

And then, last March, when she had finished her box of antibiotics and thought she was completely healed, Ms. Dalton’s personality changed completely. Tense, anxious, and emotional, she thought “Suffer from depression”. Seeing that the situation was not improving, her family pushed her to go to the hospital in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Only to find that his abscess had not healed, and that the infection had spread to the heart, liver, but also to the brain.

“This experience changed my life”

It is also the infection that was responsible for the change in the mother’s personality by putting pressure on the front of her brain! While in hospital, her condition deteriorated further and Ms. Dalton could not even walk. This is why she was transferred to the neurology department of the Hull Royal Infirmary. “It was as if my memory had been erased. I was so confused, I looked at people thinking I knew them when I didn’t ”, she explains.

Fortunately, the treatments ended up having their effect. Rebecca has been allowed to return home, although she is still in rehabilitation. “This experience changed my life. At 35, you don’t expect to have caregivers watching you take your pills every morning. It was really difficult and it gave me a different outlook on life ”, she concludes.
