The press conference in the live stream from approx. 11 a.m .:

After the Constitutional Court (VfGH) overturned the Ministry of Health’s corona regulation to enter public space, Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober (Greens) also wants to improve on another point: the distance rules. Because this regulation is indirectly affected by the VfGH slogan. According to Anschober, the corona law should therefore be put on a new footing in the National Council in September. “This does not mean that we do not need a gap, on the contrary, even if there is no immediate threat of punishment until September.”

In addition, Anschober has announced a comprehensive reform of the Ministry of Health. Processes in the creation of legal remedies, such as regulations, are to be reorganized. Most recently, the so-called travel ordinance from the Ministry of Health was heavily criticized because it also contained numerous errors. “It was just bad work,” Anschober said. “Something will change there, it mustn’t happen.” In the legal area, the staff in the Ministry of Health should therefore be increased significantly.

In future, no more legal remedies should be passed that have not been examined by the constitutional service in the Federal Chancellery. The pandemic law from 1913 is also to be revised in the course of the year, Anschober said and criticized his predecessor Beate Hartinger-Klein (FPÖ). The minister changed the structure of the department in such a way that one was badly positioned in the corona crisis.
