Kalicharan Maharaj from Madhya Pradesh state was arrested by Chhattisgarh state police.
His arrest involved three teams from the Chhattisgarh police who were deployed separately.

Sachin Sharma, a senior police inspector from Chhattisgarh police, explained the search authorities had to carry out to find Kalicharan Maharaj.
The religious leader has been trying to avoid arrest.
“Kalicharan Maharaj lives in a rented room in Bageshwar Dham, 25 km from Khajuraho. He booked a room at a guesthouse in Khajuraho by hiding his identity,” Sharma told the newspaper Hindustan Times, Friday (12/31/2021).
“When he got there on Thursday morning, he was arrested by the Chhattisgarh police,” he said.
The religious leader also allegedly ordered his aides to turn off their phones.
