High waves forecast in Campeche – Noticieros Televisa

The polar air mass that drives the front will cause a North event with gusts of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour (km/h) on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and waves of 4 to 6 meters high on the coasts of Tabasco, Veracruz and the Gulf of Tehuantepec; wind gusts of 80 to 100 km/h on the coast of Tamaulipas and wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h with waves of 2 to 4 m on the coasts of Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatan. In addition, a marked drop in temperature is expected with frost at dawn on Sunday over the north, northeast, center, east and southeast of the national territory, and dense fog banks in the Sierra Madre Oriental.

The Cold Front Number 35 will quickly travel through the Yucatan Peninsula and it will enter the Caribbean Sea, which will generate punctual torrential rains in the north of Chiapas, in Tabasco and the south of Veracruz; intense in areas of Campeche and Oaxaca, as well as very strong in places of Puebla, Quintana Roo and Yucatán. The forecast rainfall could cause an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, landslides and floods in low-lying areas, so it is recommended to follow the indications of Civil Protection of each entity.

The North event will be maintained with gusts of 80 to 100 km/h during the morning on the Isthmus and the Gulf of Tehuantepec, and with gusts of 40 to 50 km/h on the coast of Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatán; conditions that will diminish during the afternoon of Sunday.

Also, wind with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h and dust storms are expected in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas, and wind with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Jalisco and Sonora.

Dense banks of fog are expected in the east and southeast of Mexicoas well as frosts in Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Coahuila, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Zacatecas.

Regarding temperatures, minimum values ​​of -10 to -5 degrees Celsius are estimated in mountainous areas of Chihuahua, Coahuila and Durango; from -5 to 0 degrees in the mountains of Aguascalientes, the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, the north and northeast of Jalisco, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Zacatecas, and from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius in high places of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Mexico City, the north and northeast of Michoacán, Morelos and Sinaloa.

Additionally, strong punctual rains are expected in localities of Campeche, Chiapas and Tabasco; intervals of showers (from 5 to 25 mm) in the regions of Oaxaca, Quintana Roo and Veracruz, as well as isolated rains in Puebla and Yucatán.

The meteorological conditions described above will be due to the mass of cold air that drove the frontal system 35, and that in the afternoon will begin to modify its thermal characteristics. For its part, the Cold Front Number 35 will move over the Caribbean Sea and will stop affecting the country.

In the afternoon, the warm to very hot environment will prevail over much of the country, with maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius in Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco and Michoacán, and 30 to 35 degrees Celsius in Baja California, Baja California South, Campeche, the coast of Chiapas, the southwest of the State of Mexico and Guanajuato, in Morelos, Nayarit, the coast of Oaxaca, the southwest of Puebla and Sinaloa, as well as in the south of Sonora.
