If you lived through the 1990s and even looked at cars back then, there’s a good chance you admired the Opel Calibra.
This elegant coupe, produced between 1989 and 1997, really stood out in domestic traffic at the time. And we dare say that its design holds up even today, the Calibra still looks good.
However, if you have ever tried to find a piece for yourself in a well-preserved and, above all, original condition, then you know that this is an almost impossible task. Occasionally, however, an interesting specimen appears in an advertisement. Like the white Calibra, which is currently on sale in Sweden.
Although it is not a car in a completely original form, it is very close to it. In addition, the technology and the fact that it is a limited edition car will impress. Opel has prepared several limited editions for the Calibra over the years, in 1995 they were the DTM Edition and the Keke Rosberg Edition, which were very similar in several ways. Although the seller writes about the DTM Edition in the ad, he also describes that the interior of his car boasts a sticker revealing that this particular example is the 683rd of the limited edition. And most importantly, it has Keke Rosberg’s signature on it. Therefore, we dare to say that it is more of a Keke Rosberg Edition version. By the way, only 1000 pieces were made.
The Calibra Keke Rosberg Edition was available exclusively with a body painted in “casablancaweiß” white, complemented by 16-inch BBS rims. The coupe also boasted Irmscher springs and a chassis lowered by 20 millimeters, emblems on the body or specific upholstery of sports seats.
The equipment includes, for example, central locking, frontal airbags, electric window control, on-board computer or manual air conditioning. And an audio system with a CD player – which brings us to the modifications. The “music” is not original, the Calibra has new speakers and a subwoofer in the trunk. Because of the Swedish registration, the coupe still had to get additional turn signals in the front fenders.
The Opel also stands on other wheels, namely silver 17-inch BBS rims. However, the seller claims that he will also throw in the original discs to the new owner. But it draws attention to minor scratches.
Otherwise, the current owner talks about the exceptionally good condition of the car. The Calibra arrived in Sweden in October 1997 and it is said that it has driven only about 42,550 kilometers during its entire life.
Under the front hood is the most powerful available drive unit, i.e. a turbocharged two-liter four-cylinder, providing a maximum power of 150 kW at 5,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 280 Nm at 2,400 rpm. The coupe uses all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. With this equipment, the Calibra accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 245 km/h.
And the price? The interesting Opel Calibra is on sale for 22,500 euros, which translates to about 534,353 CZK.
