Health workers are asked to be disciplined for health care despite the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

The government will give a third injection Corona vaccine for health workers (nakes) starting this week. Gadjah Mada University Epidemiologist Bayu Satria Wiratama reminded health workers to remain disciplined in health care procedures even though they have been vaccinated for the third time.

“Even though they have received two doses of vaccine or even a third dose, health workers still need to be disciplined with 5M outside the hospital. Because there are still many health workers who loose 5M after receiving the second dose,” said Bayu to detik.com, Tuesday (13/7/2021).

The 5M are wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and limiting mobilization and interaction.

Bayu fully supports the third dose of vaccination for health workers. Bayu believes that health workers are at high risk of being exposed to Corona.

“With the record that there are no official research results that state the effectiveness of the third dose of vaccination, but in theory it is like a booster or increases the ability of the immune system that has previously been formed from the Sinovac vaccine,” said Bayu.

Bayu explained the function of the third vaccination as a booster is to increase immunity. “Booster means an additional dose of vaccine with the aim of increasing the ability of immunity that has been formed by the previous vaccine,” he explained.

Starting This Week

Previously, Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that starting this week, he planned to give the third injection of the Corona vaccine for health workers.

“We have issued a policy that the plan is that starting this week we will give a third injection, a booster, but this is only for health workers, because this is very sensitive,” said Budi at the DPR RI Commission IX meeting broadcast on the DPR RI YouTube account, Tuesday (13/13). /7/2021).

The third injection of the Corona vaccine is only for health workers, while ordinary citizens have not. Minister of Health Budi said the third vaccine injection was to deal with a wave of Corona patients at the hospital.

“This dose the people don’t have all of them, so we give this only to health workers first, so we can protect them so that they can withstand this wave of people who come in. Because we lack discipline on the upstream side,” he said.
