Health reports 35 new positive cases of COVID-19 that already total 1,843

Just on the day that the gradual reopening of the economy begins, the Health Department added this Monday 35 unique positive cases of COVID-19 which already number 1,843 in Puerto Rico.

The agency, however, did not report deaths associated with the disease, so the total fatalities remain at 97.

“The deaths from COVID-19 remained at 97, after the Surveillance System did not report deaths confirmed by COVID-19. Likewise, the Demographic Registry did not report fatalities due to clinical pictures that, at the time of their respective deaths, were compatible with COVID-19, thus being classified by a doctor in their death certificates, “Salud said in a press release.

As has been the agency’s norm for more than a week, Salud did not report today the total number of tests carried out on the island.. The last number that the Secretary of Health, Lorenzo González Feliciano, made public was about 30,000.

The 35 new cases were reported broken down into 13 that were obtained through molecular tests and 22 by serological tests.

Meanwhile, the positive total corresponds to 1,001 results of molecular tests and 842 of serological tests. 50.2% of patients diagnosed with the disease are men, while 49.8% are women.

Regarding the municipalities with the most reported cases, San Juan continues to be the one with the highest incidence with 279 cases, followed by Bayamón with 107 and Guaynabo with 101. However, the agency still does not have the town of 120 patients infected with the virus.

From the data provided by Health, it also appears that the age range between 50 and 59 years remains as that of the most cases reported with 375.
