He blocks speeders with his car, the insurance refuses to reimburse him

On the evening of February 3, a 28-year-old resident of Saint-Nazaire witnessed a serious road accident while driving his car: a cyclist was hit by a van. Except that, instead of stopping, the two drivers continue on their way, without slowing down, explains The Echo of the Peninsula, Sunday, March 6. The young man, who saw the van coming in his direction, then decided to stop their escape by putting his Renault 4 L Savane across the road. Both cars are destroyed in the collision.

The two drivers then violently attack the young Nazairien, with their fists. He films the scene. “They were trying by all means to recover my phone so much so that I had to throw it away. The youngest even tried to set fire to his vehicle by lighting a piece of cardboard. It was surreal”, says he told L’Echo de la Presqu’île. Alerted by the altercation, the neighborhood begins to approach, while the two drivers flee on foot.

An online kitty to help him

The injured cyclist, aged 19, was hospitalized and the Nazairian was prescribed 5 days of ITT. But the latter’s setbacks continued thereafter. The insurance refused to pay for the repair of his car, since he strayed from his lane. He is therefore at fault according to the Highway Code. Of the 4,500 euros paid for his 4 L, he will not recover anything.
The young man found himself in financial difficulty, he does not have the means to buy a vehicle. Friends then launched an online kitty in order to help him. As of March 7, more than 5,650 euros have been collected. Very touched, the Nazairien assures that if he had to do it again, he would do it again. Thanks to his intervention and his video, the two fugitives were finally identified by the police.
