Having just stepped down, Abidal reveals the secrets of the situation at Barca

KOMPAS.comEric Abidal recently resigned from his position as Sports Director Barcelona.

The decision was contained in the official Barcelona website on Tuesday (18/8/2020) evening WIB.

Two days later, Abidal, who is a player Barca 2007-2013 era, wrote his farewell letter to the Blaugrana squad.

In the letter, he also revealed the reasons behind his resignation.

“To Barcelonistas, I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to all of you,” wrote Abidal.

“I feel more grateful than you can imagine, to be able to share at two important stages in my life.”

Abidal said that the second separation was harder for him.

“This second farewell comes after two years in which I have worked hard to make Barca better,” he wrote again.

“After two intense seasons, I decided to leave. After the Board confirmed I would stay on Monday.”

“However, I submitted my resignation on Tuesday,” Abidal wrote in confirmation.

The man from France also explained the situation at the club when he was entrusted with being the Sports Director.

“Over the past two years, I have tried to make changes that are very important for the future of the first team,” wrote the collector of two titles Champions League with the Barca.

“Despite all that, I have not been able to achieve it. That’s why I believe, this is the right time to do it, to end time with the club.”
