Indonesia Masters 2022: Fajar/Rian Steps into the Finals!

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto managed to lock one ticket to the final Indonesia Masters 2022 after winning 21-17, 21-17 over He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong (China) in the semifinals.

Playing at Istora Senayan, Saturday (11/6/2022), Fajar/Rian met quite a fierce resistance in the first set. The pursuit of points runs tight up to 6-6.

He/Zhou then managed to stay away to 9-6, but Fajar/Rian equalized the score to 9-9, then added two more points to close the interval with a score of 11-9. After a pause, He/Zhou tried to get up.

The score was back at 11-11, but after that Fajar / Rian continued to leave the opponent until 20-15. He/Zhou briefly closed the gap to 17-20, but He’s shot wide of the field ensured Fajar/Rian won the first set with a score of 21-17.

In the second set, a fierce match occurred again at the beginning. He/Zhou had a 4-2 lead, but Fajar/Rian equalized it to 4-4. The Indonesian pair had a 6-5 lead, but He/Zhou won four consecutive points to take a 9-6 lead, and finally closed the interval with a score of 11-9.

After the break, Fajar/Rian had equalized the score to 11-11, but He/Zhou managed to grab the next four points to lead 15-11. Fajar/Rian did not give up and managed to steal the next five points to turn ahead 16-15.

One smash Rian failed to return perfectly by Zhou made the score 17-15. But He/Zhou managed to take two points in a row, making the score draw again 17-17.

Rian launched another smash which He failed to return, changing the score to 18-17. Fajar/Rian then added two more points to change the score to 20-17.

The victory finally belonged to Fajar/Rian after Fajar’s hard smash ensured Indonesia won in the second set with a score of 21-17.

With this result, Indonesia has passed two representatives to the final of the Indonesia Masters 2022. Previously, there have been Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti who had already locked the ticket to the top party.

In the final, Fajar/Rian will face Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang (China) who qualified after defeating Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in two straight games, 21-17, 21-10.
