Hamas Has Legal Right to Fight

LONDON – Parliamentarian English , Crispin Blunt, warned the British Government not to ban the Palestinian resistance movement in the Gaza Strip, Hamas . Blunt said it would have the “terrible effect of getting anything into Gaza”.

According to him, because the enclave under siege by Israel is governed by Hamas, banning the movement means the government cannot handle it. This condition also makes the international community unable to provide assistance to the millions of Palestinians who are in dire need in Gaza.

As quoted from the Middle East Monitor, Friday (11/26/2021), Blunt also stated, under international law, Hamas has the legal right to fight. He explained, however, that the attacks used on Palestinians were unlawful, as they were not targeted and indiscriminate.”

“My personal position is that the two-state solution is long gone. That at the end of the day, the only way to actually solve this is with people coming together and we’re allowing it to happen, helping it happen. I’m afraid today’s action is just the opposite. ,” Blunt said during a debate about the British government’s proposal to designate Hamas as a “terrorist group”.

Last week the British government announced plans to label Hamas a terrorist organization as a whole. Previously, Britain had also banned the military wing of the Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades movement. British Home Secretary Priti Patel will push for changes in parliament on the grounds that it is impossible to distinguish between the political and military wings of Hamas.

In the aftermath of the plan, Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip have asked the British Parliament to overturn the country’s government’s decision to label the resistance group Hamas as a terrorist organization.

“We ask the British Parliament to overturn the decision and not pass it,” said Imad Al-Agha, a spokesman for the faction, as quoted by Anadolu Agency. “Our Palestinian people are united in rejecting the British government’s decision to declare Hamas a terrorist organization,” he added.
