Halyna Hutchins’ father, Anatoly Androsovych, sees no responsibility Alec Baldwin for what happened to his daughter until she died, but the person in charge of managing property weapons in the film Rust.
Anatoly Androsovych said this to The Sun as reported on Sunday (24/10) and reported by Asia One on Monday (25/10).
“We still can’t believe Halyna died and her mother is very sad. But I don’t judge Alec Baldwin who [harus] responsible, it is the responsibility of the person in charge of handling the weapons,” Androsovych said.
Androsovych, who lives in Ukraine, said Alec Baldwin had been in contact with Halyna’s husband, Matt.
Androsovych said he hoped he and his wife, Olga, and their daughter, Svetlana, could go to the United States to accompany Matt and Halyna’s son, Andros.
“The boy was deeply affected. He was lost without his mother. Matt will decide what legal action to take. He has paid tribute to his wife on social media,” Androsovych said.
Matt himself admitted to having communicated with Alec Baldwin. “I’ve spoken to Alec Baldwin, and he’s been very supportive,” Matt said Asia One.
Santa Fe, New Mexico, Police previously confirmed to ET on Thursday night that Baldwin, who stars and produces Rust, was the perpetrator of the accidental shooting that killed Hutchins.
The shooting prop gun used by Alec Baldwin suddenly exploded and hit Hutchins and the film’s director, Joel Souza. But Hutchins’ life was not saved.
At that time, Alec Baldwin opened fire after being told by the assistant director that the property’s gun was a cold gun. Cold gun is a term for weapons that do not contain live ammunition or are not loaded.
Production of the film was temporarily suspended. The production team said in a statement that they would wait for the investigation process.
“As we face this crisis, we have decided to suspend the set at least until the investigation is complete,” the production team said in a statement.
They also said that Director Joel Souza, who was also shot, was recovering. Not only that, the producer of the film Rust confirmed that his staff was reviewing the internal safety protocols at the shooting location.
Alec Baldwin previously opened up about the shooting incident on Friday (22/10) through a number of tweets on social media.
“There are no words to express my shock and sadness at the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and colleague of ours whom we greatly admire,” said Baldwin.
“I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to discuss how this tragedy occurred. My heart breaks for their husband, their son and everyone who knows and loves Halyna,” she said.
