Growing Number of Moldy Curds Found on Store Shelves Sparks Concern from State Agricultural and Food Inspection

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection is drawing attention to the growing number of cases of moldy curds on store shelves. They discovered the moldy delicacy in three stores in a short period of time. In not a single case did the food have an expired minimum shelf life date and no unsatisfactory storage temperatures were found.

“On the basis of a sensory evaluation, the inspectors found that there was mold on the surface of the food in question. If food shows signs of spoilage, it cannot be considered safe for human health.” confirmed by an inspection on the website Potravinynapranyri.cz.

Inspectors recorded all three cases at the turn of last year and this year. They drew attention to the first case in December, when during an inspection in Albert in Svitavy, they discovered “wreaths” of Olomouc curds with surface mold.

A month later, they recorded a similar case in Tesko in Skandinávská street in Brno. “Almost all packages inspected had white and greenish-colored mold colonies on the surface of the cheese,” the inspection noted at the time. A similar case was also repeated in January in Billa on Makovského náměstí in Brno.
