Grandmother Reportedly Stabbed Her Granddaughter in The Bronx – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — A 7-year-old girl is fighting for her life at a Bronx hospital after she was stabbed multiple times Tuesday morning, New York City Police said. The minor’s grandmother was charged with the crime, authorities added.

It all started when neighbors nearby Clinton Avenue y East 169th Street in the Morrisania neighborhood they heard a scream around 8:00 am on Tuesday, then they saw something unthinkable: a girl lay motionless in the arms of a police officer, who found her unconscious after being called to the scene.

“Nobody wants to hear that a girl got hurt, especially in her neighborhood, where her children go to school. Where they take care of the children. That’s terrible. I feel very bad,” said Anna Martinez, who runs a day care center near the site. and saw the girl in the arms of the policeman.

Martinez said the officer took the girl to the patrol car and immediately left before an ambulance arrived.

Police sources told our sister chain NBC New York that a family member inside the home found the girl had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and neck. The relative quickly called police and told them that her mother had stabbed her niece, the sources said.

“Head to toe. Face down, he had blood everywhere,” Martinez said.

The girl was hospitalized in critical condition, according to police, but is expected to survive.

Sources said the young victim lives in New Jersey and was in the Bronx visiting her grandmother. It was not clear who dropped the girl off at the home or where her parents were. Investigators recovered a knife in her apartment.

The grandmother was detained by the police and taken to the hospital for evaluation. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was later charged with attempted murder, according to police.

No other details were immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
