Grab Your Umbrella as Storms Head for the New York Area – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – Get out those umbrellas because after enjoying a couple of days with sunny skies, the rain returns on Tuesday afternoon with the arrival of a cold front.

WEATHER ALERTS:

Showers and thunderstorms will begin after 4:00 pm and continue through Wednesday morning as the front moves east.

Check the latest weather alerts here.

After some morning showers, the cloudiness should clear by Wednesday afternoon before a low pressure system arrives with a second round of overnight showers and thunderstorms that will affect Thursday morning travel.

Once that system passes over the tri-state area, the sun will return on Friday before a coastal low brings another round of rain for the start of our weekend. Fortunately, it looks like the rain will end in time for Sunday’s Puerto Rican parade.

TROPICAL UPDATE

While all is calm in the Atlantic and Pacific, our local area today faces a high risk of rip currents as tidal waves generated by Alex’s remnants reach our shores.
