A Russian court has recognized the lists of victims in Ukraine as a state secret

The Kaliningrad Oblast Svetlogorsk City Court heard a claim from the Prosecutor General of the 73rd Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Baltic Navy, which demanded that the list of fallen people published in Ukraine on the 60th RU be recognized as information that Russia is prohibited from disseminating. [Krievijas mediju uzraudzības dienesta] A spokesman for Roskomnadzor supported the prosecutor’s office, the statement said.

“The court, hearing the parties, concluded that the list of casualties in Ukraine was evidence of personnel losses during the war, during peacetime and during the period of special operations.”

“The court also noted that the data is a state secret, the disclosure of which could be subject to criminal liability,” the statement said.

The 74th RU editorial has stated that, following a court decision, the 60.RU site may be included in the “Unified Domain Name Register containing information the distribution of which is prohibited in Russia” and blocked.

In the name of the security of journalists and editors, the media “74RU” has decided to prevent the deletion of materials containing the names of fallen Russian soldiers.
