Government Guarantees Transparency of Covid-19 Vaccine Management

The Ministry of Health will be the main coordinator in the management of vaccine stocks, starting from the arrangement of vaccine arrivals, the distribution process, to the regulation of vaccine injection provisions.

The first scheme is to distribute vaccines from the central government to the provincial government which is then continued to the district/city governments. While the second scheme is carried out by distributing vaccines directly from the central government to district/city governments.

“According to the President’s direction, regions do not need to hold/reserve vaccine stocks because the central government will ensure that new stocks will continue to arrive. As soon as the vaccine arrives, local governments can directly inject vaccines into the community. The vaccination program must be accelerated so that people can immediately get protection,” he said. Previously, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, M.Epid also said that the government ensures the availability and distribution of vaccines to the regions. This is expected to accelerate the achievement of herd immunity or group immunity. Therefore, he asked for the vaccine that had been distributed to be used immediately.

“Make sure the use of vaccines is in accordance with the rules for using each type of vaccine,” said dr. Nadia.

He explained that currently the elderly group is one of the most vulnerable. The elderly group has the highest death rate from Covid-19. In addition, vaccination coverage for this group is still relatively low. Meanwhile, several provinces with low coverage of the second dose of vaccination in the elderly group are Aceh, West Sumatra, North Maluku, and Papua.

“Therefore, we hope that the relevant stakeholders, especially in the regions, will rearrange strategies to reach this vulnerable population,” he said.
