Government authorizes construction companies to have workers from quarantined areas | Economy

Construction companies will be able to add workers residing in quarantined areas to their tasks, after the Government expands the pilot plan – which is already underway – arranged for the restart of the activity.

The measure, however, will involve complying with a protocol, which consists of workers being transferred from their home (in the quarantined commune) through private transport paid by the company, that they take the PCR test before the restart of the works, and that the workers sign a letter in which they undertake to maintain self-care when they are out of the work, details this Saturday Third.

The Government has reported that only those construction companies that have been operating for at least two weeks in the transition stage will be able to count on workers from quarantined areas. And construction has not been declared an essential activity, so these tasks can only be carried out in quarantine-free communes, that is, from Step 2 onwards.

The Minister of Economy, Lucas Palacios, told the aforementioned media that “what we are doing now is a gradual escalation of the pilot plan”, adding that “those communes that are already in transition can join as soon as possible, there are no restrictions, and to those communes that have just entered transition will require 14 days to pass before a quarantined commune worker can enter a work or task that is in the transition stage.

“Construction has applied its protocols in a very rigorous way, only 0.29% has been the positivity of contagions in the world of construction,” says the minister, explaining that in the construction sector there is a rate of 3 infections per thousand workers, which is six times less than at the national level.
