The Christmas concerts in the Wetter Stadtsaal were canceled. The HeartChoir has now published its version of Auld Lang Syne on the Internet.

When the cultural year ends in Wetter, it always means: sold out. For a long time now, the HeartChoir has been luring numerous music lovers into the city hall to get in the mood for Christmas with its singing talents at these gala concerts. In 2020, Corona prevented the choir, which is known far beyond the city limits, from adding further performances in its home country.
But for fans of good choral music there is a substitute, even if only for a short pleasure: The HeartChoir has now published its version of the song Auld Lang Syne on Internet platforms (which can be translated as “times long ago”). New year greetings instead of Christmas feelings. 22 members of the choir can be seen in front of microphones for almost three and a half minutes. Contemporary, sometimes as a single image, then again as a group like in a video conference.
Three solo voices and chorus
Moritz Ludwig opens the dance at the beginning, followed by solo parts by choir director Julia Barbig (she also rewrote the piece for the choir) and Senta Kroll. But the power of the HeartChoir unfolds especially when all singers and the three men are connected. The instrumental accompaniment is provided by Kevin Idahosa on piano, Nils Haak on guitar, bassists Alexander Wieczorek and Friedemann Rex on drums.
The publication triggered some euphoric reactions in online social media. “Wonderful, thank you very much for the great start to the year”, many wrote under the article in which the HeartChoir also added German text passages and wishes them a happy new year.

The choir has existed since 2004, and in December 2005 the first gospel gala took place in Wetter. The HeartChoir and its “Soul from the West” include young singers and a four-piece funk and soul band.
