“People in Europe and America are taking to the streets (to support Palestine) but some Western countries are taking the wrong stance on this issue,” Rouhani told a session of the National Coronavirus Task Force in Tehran as quoted by the Iranian news agency, IRNA, Saturday (22/5/2021).
Rouhani went on to say that most Islamic countries are taking a good stance, however, more is expected from the Arab World.
“Some were silent even in the last days of the war,” Rouhani said. “However, all countries are doing well,” he underlined.
Rouhani also stressed that resistance will bring victory.
Further, he congratulated the Palestinians who dared to fight and were patient over their victory.
Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel was forced to accept defeat by Palestinian armed fighters. The statement was made Friday after a ceasefire was agreed upon by the Zionists and Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza.
“I thank Almighty God for the victory and the honor bestowed on the Palestinian fighters,” he said in a statement on his official website.
The 11-day conflict in the Gaza Strip ended with the agreement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which controls the territory. The deal was seen as a victory by Hamas and Palestinians greeted it with joy.
The ceasefire took effect on Friday at 02.00 a.m. local time, after 11 days of bloody fighting.
Israeli attacks on Gaza since May 10 have killed 243 Palestinians, including 66 children, said the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza.
Meanwhile, thousands of rockets fired at Israel from Gaza have claimed 12 lives in Israel.
