The cost of gasoline continues to rise, with no lower prices in sight in the near future.
In the city, the average price of regular gasoline is a little more than 4 dollars – the highest since 2014 – while a gallon of premium gasoline is 4 dollars and 24 cents.
Nationally, the value of fuel increased 23 cents from Monday.
Currently the national average price is $3.84 per gallon, compared to $2.75 at this time last year.
In the five boroughs, the cheapest price is registered in Staten Island, while the highest values are registered in Manhattan, although the price difference is only a few cents.
According to Triple A, oil prices have reached their highest level in more than a decade. Currently the barrel registers a cost of 110 dollars.
The war in Ukraine is blamed for the latest increase. AAA expects the price of gas to continue to rise, especially if restrictions are placed on Russian oil.
“Russia is a major oil producer. They produce more than 10 million barrels a day,” said Robert Sinclair Jr. of AAA Northeast, quoted by ABCNews.
The Triple A indicates that a possible ban on the purchase of Russian oil would cause a significant impact on prices.
