In a current question and answer session on the last meeting of investors, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa also about the production of the Nintendo Switch during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the impact on the general business of the group was minimal. Production has been slowly ramping up again since March. However, the outbreak of the pandemic in large parts of the world between the second half of March and April prevents some components from being in stock. As a result, Nintendo is unable to achieve the production target it is currently looking for. However, the company hopes that the situation will calm down by the summer and that the targeted sales target for the current financial year can still be achieved. However, if nothing changes or if the pandemic and its consequences get worse, there is a chance that the goal set could be missed.
When asked by an investor which parts of production were almost out of stock at the moment, Furukawa did not want to express himself precisely because this also affected the business of other companies. However, the production of computer chips or other parts, which are also used for smartphones, for example, would have no influence on Nintendo’s production or sales plans.
