From Tigre to Mar del Plata: they tried to move in full quarantine but were rejected at a checkpoint | Chronicle

A family from the Buenos Aires town of Tiger tried to move to Mar del Plata in full quarantine for the coronavirus pandemic, without having a permit to settle in the city, so all its members were delayed in a checkpoint and had to return to their place of origin, followed by the truck carrying the furniture, municipal sources reported on Sunday.

The family group, made up of a couple and their two children, arrived last night in the town of Balneario in a private van, but was intercepted at the security and health checkpoint installed on the access on Route 2.

The commune reported that at the time of requesting the documentation with which they circulated and sought to enter, access the city“They tried in different ways to demonstrate that they lived in Mar del Plata, although the DNI certified that the address was Tiger“.

From the local Secretariat of Security they assured that, after notifying them of the impossibility of entering due to the measures imposed in the framework of social, preventive and compulsory isolation,
“the family decided to bet on the side of the checkpoint, indicating that they were going to wait there until they were let through”.

“They even called their lawyer, who tried through various devices to get this family to enter our city”they reported.

Three hours later, a moving truck full of furniture arrived at the same checkpoint, and control officers determined that it was carrying the belongings for the family from Tigre.

Finally, both the family’s private vehicle and the truck with the furniture had to hold hands in the opposite direction and return to their city.

The Municipality reported that this type of action has to do with the response designed against the toughened quarantine announced for the AMBA, since
“In these four days of window that were generated, many people tried to come to Mar del Plata to spend the next days of isolation.”

“The checkpoints at the seven entrances of General Pueyrredon’s party have been key to achieving the epidemiological and sanitary situation in this city, in which an average of 100 cars per day is rejected”, argued local authorities.

In that sense, the local mayor,
Guillermo Montenegro, he pointed:
“We knew that the tightening of the quarantine in the AMBA was going to generate that many wanted to come to carry out the quarantine in our city. That is why the controls on income are increasingly stringent.”

General Pueyrredón’s party is currently in phase 4 of social isolation, with five people undergoing treatment for Covid-19.
