PISTOIA. They can be called “solidarity pads” or “suspended pads”, what matters is the concept. That is to offer the possibility to perform free antigenic swabs to all those people who are unable to do them, because they have no money to spend or a way to access health services in the usual way. Whether it is migrants, homeless people, families or individuals with low or zero income levels, there are still a good number of people, even in Pistoia, who risk escaping the tracing of the Covid contagion.
It is precisely to them that the new initiative of the voluntary association “Outpatient Clinic Article 32” is addressed, consisting of doctors, nurses and people with administrative functions, mostly retired, who operate completely free and voluntary. The association was born last year and already has several initiatives in the health field, always aimed at the weakest subjects.
To give an example, it is they who have followed the health conditions of the migrants who are guests of the Vicofaro parish; they too, in collaboration with the Green Cross and the Red Cross, are making a contribution to the “Auto Covid” project, together with 118, which consists of going to the homes of sick people to treat them without making them move or even directing them to the hospital.
Every day, then, the volunteers of the association provide specialized health services (dental, dermatological, ophthalmological and so on) to those who otherwise could not have them.
And now? “We have the intention – reads a message on the association’s Facebook site – to activate a new project called” solidarity or suspended buffer “, following initiatives already implemented in many Italian cities, whose purpose is to perform antigenic tampons to that segment of the aforementioned population actively collaborating in the widespread tracing of the pandemic contagion “. For this the association has sent a letter to the ASL Toscana Centro. “We ask – concludes the message – that our collaboration be accepted and that the formal procedures to be followed for authorization are communicated to us”. –
