“It is normal for any of us to be susceptible to infection, especially if we have responsibly assumed in the name of the revolution to be in the front line of combat and containment of the pandemic on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, which is 164 kilometers long. Here we are in Táchira on the first line of containment of the pandemic, on this long border with the Republic of Colombia; It has been a tough task in perfect civic-military-police and social unity ordered in that way by President Nicolás Maduro, ”the press release said.
He recalled that on that border line they have dedicated themselves, on the one hand, “to the loving reception of more than 56 thousand compatriots fleeing the pandemic, xenophobia and discrimination in Colombia and other Latin American countries; on the other, the confrontation with organized crime that has now made the passage of compatriots a business and we have faced it with the full force of the constitution, this evidently puts us in the first line of combat, “he said.
Bernal pointed out that after having felt a headache and fever, he immediately isolated himself and placed himself under the orders of the Health Authorities, who reads carried out the PCR, which was positive for covid-19. “I have assumed with great responsibility the orientations of the health team in Táchira and I have accepted this as one more life task, as one more battle that I am doing on behalf of my people and the revolution.”
He also insisted on the need to continue with the work of guiding and working on a great radio, press, television and social media campaign to convince and raise awareness in the population so that they understand “that the pandemic exists and the virus kills,” he said. .
Finally, he said “despite the enormous difficulties we consider that in Táchira we are in victory against the pandemic. I only reaffirm to our people the only way to minimize the risk of contagion is the correct use of a mask, maintain social distancing and the permanent washing of their hands.
