Four people arrested in connection with the stabbing of an Uber driver in NY – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – New Rochelle Police arrested four people over the weekend in connection with the stabbing of an Uber driver.

According to the authorities’ report, the victim picked up 5 passengers at the New Roc City entertainment complex on Saturday around 2:30 pm, and shortly thereafter, an alleged verbal dispute between the driver and a teenage passenger began.

At this, the driver apparently stopped for passengers to get out and the dispute turned physical, the report says. During the physical dispute, another teenage female passenger allegedly stabbed the driver in the chest 2 times.

The driver was transported to Jacobi Hospital, where he is expected to recover.

The 5 passengers allegedly fled on foot, but were later detained by the police. A further investigation revealed that two adult passengers were in possession of illegal pistols, one of which was a “ghost pistol” without a serial number and a large capacity magazine.

Omar Gaines, 18, of the Bronx, and David Owens, 20, also of the Bronx, were charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. On the other hand, two adolescent women were accused of assault and taken to the Family Court.

The other passenger was released because he was not involved in the crime.

The case remains under investigation.
