Four men were killed in a night shooting on a beach in northern Albania, local media reported today, citing police.
According to the information quoted by DPA, the shootout broke out on a beach near Shkodra between members of two families running hotels. The dispute has erupted over the arrangement of the beach with umbrellas and sunbeds.
It is unknown at this time why the conflict has escalated to the point of using firearms.
The victims are 20, 25, 38 and 59 years old. Two wounded were transported to hospital.
There was a massive presence of riot police in the area.
Guests of a nearby hotel, startled in their sleep by the sound of thunder, have decided to leave. Among them are tourists from Kosovo.
