Frank Williams used to run naked around church cemeteries in order to collect the petrol money from his colleagues. The team founder has been sitting in a wheelchair after a car accident since 1986 and still visits the factory at the age of 78.

Team name remains
Seven years ago, Frank handed over the management of the GP to daughter Claire (44). It never really got going – and now what it announced in May has happened: the traditional racing team, which has been on the stock exchange since 2011, is being sold. For more than 140 million euros to US investor Dorilton Capitals. With the guarantee that the team name will remain.

From Regazzoni to Maldonado
Let’s remember briefly: in 1979 it was Clay Regazzoni who clinched the first Williams win at Silverstone. In 2012 Pastor Maldonado from Venezuela celebrated the last Williams success so far in Barcelona. The low point: On May 1, 1994, Ayrton Senna had a fatal accident in Imola in a Williams Renault.
