Actress Lori Loughlin sentenced to two months in prison for bribery | NOW

Lori Loughlin must be jailed for two months for her role in a bribe scandal surrounding her daughters’ college, the Los Angeles court ruled on Friday. Her husband Mossimo Giannulli has been sentenced to five months in prison.

Loughlin, known as an actress in the American television series Full House, must also pay a fine of 150,000 dollars (about 127,000 euros) and carry out a 100-hour community service order. After her imprisonment, a probationary period of two years applies. The sentence imposed by the judge is in line with the agreement Loughlin previously concluded with the Los Angeles prosecutor.

Loughlin and her husband Giannulli confessed in May that they were part of a massive bribery scandal surrounding the admission of their daughters Bella and Olivia Jade to the University of Southern California. They paid $ 500,000 to an intermediary to enroll their children in the university rowing club while they were not practicing the sport.

Giannulli’s sentence, who was also fined $ 250,000 and sentenced to 200 hours of community service, is higher because he was more in touch with the middleman, arranged the payments, and also confronted a teacher from one of the daughters on high school. He had expressed doubts at the University of Southern California whether she had ever rowed.

More than twenty confessions in scandal

Louglin, 56, and her husband Giannulli, one year older, are the 23rd and 24th respectively to confess guilt in the bribery scandal. A total of fifty parents are involved in the case.

Also the former Desperate Housewivesactress Felicity Huffman was one of those involved. She was sentenced to two weeks in prison, a community service of 250 hours and a fine of $ 30,000. She committed exam fraud on behalf of her children. She has now served her prison sentence.
