Jakarta

Former spokesperson FPI (Islamic Defenders Front), Munarman, pledged allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). Munarman made the pledge at the Class II-A Salemba Prison.

It is known, Munarman was sentenced to 3 years due to involvement in terrorism cases. Munarman was considered cooperative and participated in all coaching activities at the prison.

“While he was in prison, he actively participated in all coaching activities and stated openly that he was ready to cooperate in terms of coaching, including taking part in the deradicalization program,” said Yosafat Rizanto, Head of Class II-A Salemba Prison, in a statement, Tuesday (8/8 /2023).

Rizanto said the pledge of allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia was the success of the deradicalization process in prisons. This is seen as a manifestation of the serious determination and enthusiasm of terrorist convicts to return to the ideology of Pancasila.

Erwedi Supriyatno, Director of Convict Development and Production Work Training at the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen Pas), gave his appreciation to the ranks of Selamba Prison.

“This is an achievement. To date, the number of terrorism convicts who have pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia is 168 people or has reached 336 percent of the performance target of the Directorate General of Corrections in 2023,” he said.

“With this statement of loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, it means that Brother Munarman is ready to love the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and jointly protect Pancasila by respecting existing differences and understanding that Pancasila does not merely serve as the foundation of the Republic of Indonesia but also as a national ideology,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Munarman said that the deradicalization program at Salemba Prison does not only make convicts as objects of development, but also as subjects that are included in the coaching activities themselves.

Meanwhile, Munarman stated that the process of fostering terrorism convicts or the deradicalization program at Salemba Prison does not only make convicts as objects of coaching but also as subjects that are included in the coaching activities themselves.

“The role of guardians or guardians of terrorist convicts in Lapas is very important to explore the interests, inclinations and activeness of the inmates in carrying out all positive activities within the Correctional Institution. They are not only guided by coaching but are included to design coaching to be more effective,” explained Munarman.

Munarman expressed his gratitude to the prison, BNPT, Special Detachment, to the Ministry of Religion. “The message for all of us and for people who still have strong ideologies out there is that we must increase literacy, broaden horizons, widen the spectrum of perspectives so that we are not stuck with a particular ideology. Open mind so that we can accept wider differences,” he concluded.
