For the second night in a row attack in Merksem: parental home of wanted drug criminal targeted

crime

Unknowns committed an attack on a house in Merksem on Tuesday night around 1 am. It is said to be the parental home of a known drug criminal.

The police received a report of an explosion in Pinguïnstraat in Merksem. The front door of a house was destroyed. The police, the laboratory and the Dovo mine clearance service went to the scene to investigate the evidence. In the night from Monday to Tuesday, attacks had already occurred in Merksem, Borgerhout and Boom. Two suspects have been arrested in the Netherlands for these crimes.

The new attack in Merksem appears to be related to those previous attacks. According to an anonymous tipster, the parental home of Omar G., a wanted cocaine smuggler hiding in Dubai, was also hit on Monday. That information then turned out to be incorrect. The police and public prosecutor’s office had no knowledge of any incidents at the home.

The attack would ultimately only take place tonight. Everything indicates that a fireworks bomb has gone off. The police is investigating the case.
