People with arthritis need to eat a healthy diet because good nutrition plays an important role in symptom control.
In the report that follows, the Conselto reviews the foods and drinks that are prohibited for arthritis sufferers, according to the Institute of Rheumatology and Allergy.

Food and drink prohibited for arthritis sufferers
1- sugars
Arthritis patients should stay away from sugary foods and drinks, such as candies, sodas, and pastries, as consuming 40 grams of sugar increases inflammation in the body.
2- Dairy products
There is no doubt that dairy products are beneficial to human health, but their casein content makes them off-limits for arthritis patients, as they increase inflammation.

3- Trans fats
There is no objection to eating high-fat foods in the light of arthritis, as long as they come from healthy sources, such as avocados, olive oil, and nuts.
While foods that contain trans fats, such as fried foods and fast foods, should be avoided completely by arthritis sufferers, as they exacerbate inflammation.
4- Simple carbohydrates
It is necessary to stop eating foods rich in simple carbohydrates, such as pastries and white rice, as they not only cause inflammation, but also lead to weight gain, which puts a strain on the joints.
5- Alcohol
One of the drinks that increase inflammation levels in the body, because alcohol increases the risk of developing gout, a form of arthritis.

6- Grilled and fried foods
Food during grilling and frying is exposed to a high temperature.When eaten, the body produces toxins called AGEs, which can negatively affect the body’s proteins, stimulating the immune system to release cytokines, which in turn lead to to an increase in inflammation.
7- Gluten
It is known that gluten is forbidden for celiac patients, but it is also forbidden for those suffering from arthritis, therefore it is advisable to avoid its natural sources, such as wheat and barley.

8- Canned food
Canned foods aggravate arthritis, due to additives added in manufacturing and packaging, such as MSG, salt, and aspartame.
