Problems flight ticket which is expensive to Lebaran is common knowledge. Yes, it’s expensive, there are many going home but the planes are few!

Number of travelers on Eid this year it is predicted to increase by 45% from 86 million people to 123 million people. However, according to the Main Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) Muhammad Awaluddin, the number of flights is not proportional to the movement of passengers.

Awaluddin explained that the movement of passengers at the 20 airports managed by AP II was predicted to be 5.3 million people, up 25% from last year. Meanwhile, the growth in aircraft movements was only 11%.

“We estimate this projection will grow by approximately 25%. Aircraft movements will only grow by approximately 11%, our projection is approximately 36 thousand aircraft movements, but passenger movements, 5.25 million,” he said in the InJourney Group’s Readiness Media Gathering. and Eid Holidays, at Sarinah, Thursday (13/4/2023).

It is for this reason that flexibility is applied, including an additional number of flights. He said there would be around 1,300 additional flights. 1,200 were domestic flights, and the rest were international flights.

“1,300 are the total AP II airports, but Soekarno-Hatta takes the portion for the extra flights 70%, the rest are other airports. The ones that have extra flights are Bandung, then Palembang, Pekanbaru, Kualanamu. Others are Soetta. But Soetta has already taken 70%, the rest is outside,” he said.

The same thing was conveyed by the Main Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) Faik Fahmi who said there would be an additional 12,087 flights.

“And in total during this Eid period there were 12,087 extra flights. This will increase the capacity of the existing regular flights, namely 231,660 additional seats,” he said.

Additional flight requests were made at 7 airports by 11 airlines. Some of these airlines include Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, AirAsia, Sriwijaya Air, and others.

He added, the number of aircraft operating during the Eid holiday period was 412. This number was higher than last year’s 335 aircraft, but lower than 2019’s 650 aircraft.

The number of passengers taking flights is predicted to be the same as in 2019. In this regard, AP I stated that it is ready to anticipate and several airports will operate 24 hours.
