Five children were injured in an accident on Saturday afternoon on the road parallel to the N290 near Zaamslag (municipality of Terneuzen). The driver of the car, a 27-year-old woman from Hulst, drove the car with the children into a dry ditch.
The children were all taken to the hospital. Don’t know how they are.
A breath test showed the woman may have been driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested, her license was withdrawn and she was taken to the police station.
Blood was also taken, which should show whether the woman may have used drugs. The woman was later released.
The woman is the mother of two of the five children in the car. It is not known why the other three children were in her car. The children range in age from two to seven and all five live in Hulst. There are three males and two females.
