Five crew members of a fishing boat stranded on the sea in Seogwipo City, Jeju, were isolated on Gaet Rock at Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and all were rescued in 14 hours.

The coast guard, who received the report, put a patrol boat on the site to rescue, but the area of ​​the accident was a reef area and the waves were high, making it difficult to rescue. Therefore, the sailors had to stay up all night on the rocks.

Six rescuers tried to enter the sea by using a rescue boat around 10 am that day, but the weather was bad and the waves were high, making it difficult to approach. In the process, the boat was overturned by the waves, and two rescuers were injured, including a broken leg.

When the weather conditions improved for a while around 11 o’clock, the coast guard immediately put in a helicopter and rescued all the crew. One out of five rescued crew members is known to complain of hypothermia, but there is no abnormality in life.

Seven rescuers, including six rescuers and one air rescuer, who had the helicopter garden left on the rock, were unable to operate the helicopter due to bad weather again.

Two crew members who were injured during the rescue process were transferred to a hospital in Jeju City by 119 paramedics waiting at Seongsan Port and are being treated. The coast guard is investigating the exact details of the accident with the crew.
