Firewatch: the movie adaptation of the game comes back to life according to the Hollywood Reporter – news

In 2016, Campo Santo published Firewatch, a narrative game that fits brilliantly into the movement of walking simulators. Very quickly, a film adaptation project was announced, then canceled.

Let’s go back a bit. In September 2016, we learned via The Hollywood Reporter that Campo Santo, which was not yet part of Valve, had partnered with Good Universe to make Firewatch a movie. Unfortunately, in 2017, Lionsgate bought Good Universe, and the project had been thrown in the trash. Three years later, the latter seems to be reborn from its ashes since The Hollywood Reporter announces that the film is now in the hands of Snoot Entertainment, who produced films such as Blindspotting et Little Monsters.

Campo Santo, who has been wearing Valve’s colors since 2018, still seems involved since Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin are slated to be producers, alongside Keith Calder and Jess Wu Calder. The realization seems for its part to have been entrusted to Regina King (One Night in Miami). As a reminder, Firewatch tells the story of Henry, who decides to take a job as a ranger in order to take a step back on his private life. To help him accomplish his tasks, he will be in contact with Delilah, another guard, who will be his only direct human contact.

Firewatch is a stunning achievement, a beautiful and heartbreaking work of art. I’m delighted that Sean and Jake let us ruin their perfect video game by turning it into a movie and / or TV show, says Keith Calder.

For his part, Sean Vanaman expresses himself in these words:

Jess and Keith are visionary, hard-working film producers with a taste for video games. (…) We knew from our first conversation with Jess and Keith that they would make great partners. We have no doubts about their expertise, taste and passion, and we assume that our background as average game developers will make us top associate producers.

At this time, no release date and no actor has been revealed regarding this adaptation of Fireawatch.
