Fire and Swastikas Found at Jewish Part of Vienna Central Cemetery

The head of the Jewish community of Austria, Oskar Deutsch, reported on X (ex-Twitter) that on the night of November 1 there was a fire in the Jewish part of the Vienna Central Cemetery. According to him, the lobby of the ritual hall burned out, no one was injured. Deutsch noted that swastikas had been painted on the outer walls of the cemetery.

At the Vienna City Hall, in turn, reportedthat firefighters were called to the Central Cemetery around eight in the morning. City authorities confirmed that the fire occurred at night in the ritual hall in the Jewish part of the cemetery. The rescuers arrived and put out the fire.

The police are investigating. The causes of the fire are being established.
