fine 15 people, manager denounced

The continuous coming and going of people dressed in sportswear and sneakers had made the residents of a neighborhood in Nichelino, in the province of Turin suspicious, who knew well that there was a gym in those parts that should have been closed: in reality, however, the managers for some time did not care about the containment rules of Covid-19 and let the members of their sports association enter by making them pass through a secondary entrance.

For this last Friday the carabinieri of the Piedmontese city, who had been observing for hours those anomalous movements, they carried out a blitz in the structure and discovered what they suspected. After passing through a gate they found themselves in the back of the gym, next to some warehouses. Within the sports club there were at that time about fifteen “abusive athletes”, including the manager. At the sight of the men of the weapon they tried to hide to avoid the inevitable consequences, but it did not help much; all those present have in fact been identified and they will be fined 400 euros each, for not having observed the anti Covid limitations. The owner of the gym also risks a criminal complaint for non-compliance with the provisions of the authority, ie article 650 of the code. Once everyone was identified and invited to leave, the carabinieri immediately closed the gym.

Gyms and sports centers closed at least until January 15th

According to the latest government decree – the one issued on January 5, 2021 – the gyms must remain closed at least until the 15th of this month, even if an extension is absolutely obvious: As explained by the Faq published on the Palazzo Chigi website “the activities of gyms , swimming pools, swimming centers, wellness centers and spas are suspended, except for the provision of services falling within the essential levels of assistance for rehabilitation or therapeutic activities and for the training of athletes, professionals and non-professionals, who must participate in competitions and events of national importance recognized by CONI or CIP “.
